Voting and queues

Seriously 7am-10pm how much time do you need to make a X in a box? Get there earlier, don't rock up at 9.30pm and be surprised to find a queue and that you won't be able to vote. I am amazed at the stupidity of some people.
Had more people been a little more organised we would probably have had a different result and not be farting about in this state that we are now. You have yourselves to blame.

  1. I agree. The authorities bend over backwards to make voting as easy as possible. For the next General Election, I won't be surprised if they allow you to vote whilst paying for supermarket shopping.

Personally, I'd make it compulsory and have a 'don't know' box for those who aren't bothered or don't understand politics. Some people really haven't got a clue how fortunate they are to live in this country and to live with democracy. On this note, I am really proud of the people of Barking & Dagenham for going to the polling booths and standing up for what is right and keeping the BNP from marching forth.

  2. Hear hear Dr P. And for those who say postal voting is lazy...f***k them. I postal vote as I don't want to drag my tot to a polling booth. Also means I make up my mind before the last ditch desperate attempts by any party.
Compulsory sounds good to me. But I think we need much better information resources to compare the candidates and policies. The beeb made it surprisingly easy this time with side by side comparisons of the main parties, but not the minor ones.
I also really hope that the leadership debates don't end up with us having presidents.
