Plumstead events

I haven't seen or heard much about the Plumstead Make Merry/the event on Winns common with the music/one day cafe/other events recently. Has it all stopped?
The problem with things happening locally, i tend to find, is that I always read about them or hear about them a couple of days before they are due to happen, and by then it is much too late and the diary has been booked up with other social engagements for months (don't you know)!!
Come on Plumstead if you can't produce a cafe/bar/restaurant etc etc let's have some info on your events!

  3. Hi PlumBun
I am sorry to hear you say that, we have had some coverage already for this year's event in the local press, with obviously more planned in the next seven weeks. In all honesty we have a hard time getting newspaper coverage but we are doing our best.
I am sure that you are aware that the Plumstead Make Merry is organised by local people who volunteer their time and efforts to put on the event each year, it is not a council run event.
I would urge you to join the Facebook page that someone else has listed for you, and to also join our MySpace page at www.myspace.com/plumsteadmakemerry We try to make sure that announcements go out on them as soon as we have them.
If you would like to contact me, I can be reached via the Make Merry email address of plumsteadmakemerry@yahoo.co.uk
    Best wishes

  4. Thanks for all the info. I have seen the comedy on the common, I got an email about it and am going this Sunday...
Also yes I do know the MM is hosted by volunteers but I just hadn't seen any info on it this year. It is a shame when there are local events that people don't turn out in their droves to support them but I find with us that we are always booked up. Still it is in the diary for this year and so far free so I shall pop along. I shall also email the people I know locally to get them to come along and pop it in their diaries.

  5. Sarah - you need to contact the local bloggers. There are quite a few of us now and I'm sure many would be happy to post about the MakeMerry. I've plagiarised and bunged up an event listing on mine and hope to keep up to date in the next 7 weeks.
